    • Expand mental health treatment

    • Make housing more affordable

    • Prevent homelessness

    • Preserve lifesaving services

  • Campaign Voter Engagement

    • Weekly virtual phone banks on Tues and Thurs from 5-8pm

    • GOTV

      • Final push for yes voters to turn out on the first Saturday in November

    • Other ways to help:

Legislative Guest: Senator Wiener, Chair of Senate Budget Committee

  • Many big successes the last few years (here are just a few):

    • 2023: SB 423, SB 4

    • 2024: SB 937, SB 1077, AB 1893

  • Looking forward:

    • Hoping to address the issue of out of date or low quality fire risk maps and their impact on housing development

    • Potentially clean up of big legislation

    • The cost of building new housing

      • Impact fees, modernization of building industry

    • There are more and more folks that want to work on housing, and so he (and Wicks) really want to empower other members to step up and become the next generation of housing champions

Sacramento Update

  • This is a period of the year in which lots of lobbyists and organizations meet with legislators to discuss what they are interested in running, pitch bills, and build relationships that will be helpful in the coming year

  • Let us know if there are legislators that you and your organization are interested in meeting and starting to build a relationship with

    • These relationships are so important and we want to support HWG members in developing them
