City of Santa Cruz Workforce Housing Solutions Act

New Way Homes/Workbench is working with the Housing Santa Cruz County coalition to advance the City of Santa Cruz Workforce Housing Affordability and Homelessness Reduction/Prevention Act on the ballot in November 2025.

The Workforce Housing Solutions Act will:

1. Provide funding for a range of affordable housing developments serving the City’s lower income and vulnerable populations;

2. Increase the supply of affordable housing in the City;

3. Increase access to state and federal funding for affordable housing by providing additional city funds to leverage those outside funding sources and improve the competitiveness of City developments;

4. Allow the City to obtain sufficient affordable housing funds to allow the City to support a variety of affordable housing initiatives;

5. Provide an additional and significant funding source to stimulate housing for the City’s disadvantaged and economically vulnerable residents;

6. Increase the amount of City funds available for affordable housing without placing an undue burden on the City’s property taxpayers.
